Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 is the continued tour  through a vintage home filled with ideas for Christmas decorating. A team of decorators create ideas using vintage finds as well as seasonal items found in the marketplace. I always find inspiration for my Christmas and home decorating. I’m sure you will, too.

As you enter this home, the dining room is what you notice first. They use many different metals in their arrangements and it looks beautiful! So, don’t be afraid to mix them up!

Above a side table, a large industrial metal frame is layered with winter art. A mix of bronze and silver are also used in the display below.

Here’s a closer look at the arrangement in the bowl. Notice the re-purposed cabinet door under the arrangement.

On the table, metallic wallpaper lengths are layered with rhinestone edged runners. In the center, gold and gunflint metal candle holders mix together for a lovely table display. Also, notice the birch bark planters filled with white poinsettias.

Each place-setting includes coordinating plates, napkin rings and a spray of miniature pinecones. The small deer at each place serves as the name-card. (A nice re-useable idea!) The name of the guest is written on the deer with dry erase marker.  Small mirrored candle plates serve as coasters.

This small vintage kitchen always has many unique ideas.

First, the island is a re-purposed industrial cart.

Next, notice the two pieces of wall art. Framed pieces of galvanized metal gives you the opportunity to change notes or sayings on them.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 grandparentsplus.com

In the kitchen, the open cupboards show off the red patterned china while re-purposed drawers hold tea and hot cocoa supplies.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 grandparentsplus.com

The last feature in the kitchen is a garden arbor over the stove. Hanging lanterns and seasonal greens make this an unexpected focal point in the kitchen.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 grandparentsplus.com

The small vintage bathroom uses a wagon shelf unit as towel storage. The wall mirror is decorated with greens and hanging lanterns. Right under the mirror, a small wooden sleigh makes a lovely seasonal wall shelf.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 grandparentsplus.com

Have you ever thought of using an old drawer for a toilet paper holder? Love it, don’t you?

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 grandparentsplus.com

The next three ideas are for tall narrow areas. The first narrow hallway area uses a vintage section of a cabinet with a metal panel above. The second area uses salvaged wooden gates layered with holiday decor.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

In the stairwell hang decorative curtain panels of a pine tree embellished with garlands and ornaments. If you are artistically inclined, you might want to paint your own.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

One bedroom is a “Sports Den”. Industrial clamp lights are attached to pipe making it look like stadium lighting. An old incubator table is re-purposed as a coffee table.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

In keeping with the theme, a small Christmas tree is decorated with sport-themed ornaments and shoe laces as garlands.

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

Two golf clubs wired together form the curtain rod!

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

I had to look twice when I walked into the room and saw this 3-dimensional looking wallpaper on one wall. It looks like the real corrugated metal siding. Going along with the sports theme, the hockey stick, attached to the wall, makes a great ledge for pictures!

Christmas Idea House 2016 Part 2 www.grandparentsplus.com

The last piece highlighted in this Sports Den is a metal store rack used as a shelving unit. It fits in perfectly when decorated with sports containers, glasses, snacks, and sports related games.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 3

I’m bringing you more Christmas Tablescapes from our Christmas Extravaganza at our church. Different women volunteer to totally decorate a table. The creativity is amazing. If you missed Part 1 or Part 2, please click on them to see my prior posts with additional ideas for your own table.

You can’t go wrong with the Christmas colors of red, green and gold! The centerpiece repeats the colors and uses accents of pinecones. Lots of festive texture and pattern are added to the table with the addition of the striped tablecloth.

This unique table takes a hobby and turns it into a very creative tablescape.  A vintage sewing machine becomes the centerpiece attraction. Napkins, tucked into the goblets, have a scissor pattern in red and white.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Notice the tiny Christmas tree on the sewing machine. All the decorations are sewing notions. Not pictured are the various quilted runners over the back of each chair.

Chistmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Gold and black are stunning together on this table. Gold striped fabric is laid across the table for added texture and design. The napkins are simply rolled, folded, and wrapped with gold mesh ribbon.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Christmas trees with different textures are grouped together inside a large lighted wreath to form this centerpiece. Even the napkins are folded to look like Christmas trees. Notice the tree-etched goblets, too.

Purple, white,  gold, and silver colors create a beautiful table. You see a lot of mixing of different metals now in decorating and this table does it well.

Highlight your favorite manger scene for a Christmas tablescape. Add a few extra details and place it on top of a mirror to reflect the candle light. Napkins angled in the corner of the plate, show the Christmas tree pattern on the china.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Another nativity set is the centerpiece of this tablescape. The muted colors of the nativity are accented by the burlap table-runner. The napkins are striped kitchen towels! Great idea!

The Christmas tablescape at this table revolves around a set of whimsical gingerbread china. The gingerbread house, in the center, lights up with cute characters all around it. Lots of details to entertain you at this table.  Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

A little wooden  church, surrounded with snow, looks so simple, but lovely as a centerpiece.  Add a few greens, white floral stems and artificial poinsettias to accent this little church. The snow has battery operated lights under it so it gives light to the table.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Notice the poinsettia accented clothespins that are attached to a little favor for each guest.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

Santa Lucia dolls, a Swedish custom, decorate the center of the table. Five tall, red votive holders surround the figures. (I apologize for the red candle that is blocking the second figure.) Do you know the story of Santa Lucia?

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

The last one is the beautiful table decoration for the punch table. While it is not complete with china, I wanted to include it as well for more inspiration. Christmas Tablescapes 2015 part 3 grandparentsplus.com

I hope you enjoyed this series of Christmas Tablescapes with all these creative ideas. Whether it is fancy or plain, elegant or simple, new or recycled, you can make a beautiful table for your family and guests for your Christmas entertaining.

You don’t always think of “pink” for Christmas, but this tablescape looks dreamy using pink, white, and gold. A soft feather boa with pink hydrangeas and sparkly gold trees all add up to a wonderful centerpiece display.

The individual place-settings are beautiful and inviting.

Do you love cardinals? They are such a beautiful bird and the cardinal theme is carried throughout this tablescape. The table-runner has cardinals on it and at each place-setting is a cardinal tin with some home-made goodies for the guests.

You see a lot of birch accents at Christmas. This tablescape is elegant with lots of woodsy accents. The napkin rings are made of wood, too. The combination of browns and blues look great together.

Lime green poinsettia blooms really set off this table. The dark green evergreen plants around it are a nice contrast.  The napkins have a spring of evergreen tied with silver roping.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1

Oh, the creativity of the women at our church event! Each year the Christmas Tablescapes on each table are absolutely wonderful. We have a Christmas event that everyone looks forward to called a Christmas Extravaganza. Besides a wonderful Christ-filled program, the ladies attending enjoy seeing each table decorated by individual women in such gorgeous ways. It is a wonderful, festive way to start the season.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

I just need to share these beautiful ideas with you. Perhaps it will spark some inspiration for your own tablescapes. Some are elaborate, some whimsical, and others are very simple and elegant. Some start with a china inspiration and others go with a centerpiece inspiration.

The first table centerpiece is four, graduated-sized milk glass serving pieces all tiered together.  It’s decorated with artificial pines, tuffs of pink, red and cranberry ribbon, and topped with a pillar candle. How clever to use some of your favorite pieces to create a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree.

Christmas Tabescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

A burgundy tablecloth under the rose china makes a lovely vintage table setting.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

Lots of red and white balls accented with silver and red berries look great in the white garden urn. By placing it on a mirror base, the tea lights fill the table with light. Next summer, use the planter in your garden! Silver-rimmed, white dishes compliment the silver accents in the centerpiece.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

Not everyone lives in the northern regions that have snow, so why not have a Christmas table with a beach theme?

The circle wooden lantern has a candle inside surrounded by seashells. The artificial greens and flowers are typical of a tropical area, but do carry out the red and green of the season. Burlap on top of the table simulates the sand on the beach.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

Lovely shell napkin rings fit the flavor of this Christmas table. Notice the glasses……they have a sticker attached to them to make them tropical as well! It make be cold outside, but this setting feels warm and fun!

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

This elegant vase has rhinestones glued all around it. It is filled with greens and tied with a large red bow that flows down on the table. Three red pillar candles surround it.The white dinner set is accented with red napkins.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

The two women that created this tablescape didn’t have enough place settings for eight people. However, each had a coordinating set with roses on them so they combined the two sets for this tablesetting. The centerpiece has roses held in the tall vase with pebbles. Distilled water is added up to the blooms with submersible lights added for drama. The graduated glass vases also hold pebbles, submersible lights, and floating candles.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

The centerpiece became quite dramatic when lit.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

This centerpiece is made from a gold sprayed box, filled with white tissue paper flowers, and accented with tall gold floral stems.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

A detailed embroidered runner, placemats, napkins, and small dolls from Guatemala make this table unique. Christmas is celebrated around the world! The vintage soup tureen holds artificial pines and a candle. The glasses are also vintage pieces from her grandmother. How fun to create a table around special memories.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

Even God’s animals celebrate Jesus’ birth! This is a whimsical, “beary” cute version of a nativity scene.  The figures are elevated on cuts from a birch tree. The woodsy table top adds to the theme. Notice the pine-tree glasses, too!

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

Five lit branches make this a festive, winter table. The centerpiece is tall, but guests can still see each other through the woods! Snowflake ornaments decorate the place-setting.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

The last table for this party was the one that I decorated for this event. It is from the 12 Days of Christmas carol and represents the “7 Swans a Swimming” part. The song is actually a religious song that has a meaning for each phrase. Read the information on the card below.

Christmas Tablescapes 2015 Part 1 grandparentsplus.com

This swan usually sits in my bathroom with towels rolled and tucked into the opening. As a centerpiece, I filled it with artificial green pines along with white and silver floral additions. The small battery lights add a sparkle. Six other small swans circle the big one on  glittered silver fabric.

Small silver swan ornaments sit to the right of each place-setting.
